How Teeth Whitening Works

The first step of your treatment is a cosmetic consultation with one of our dentists. Your doctor will perform a cosmetic examination to assess the overall color and quality of your teeth. They will also discuss your desired results and treatment goals to try to give you the smile you’re looking for. Next is your whitening treatment!

To start, your dentist will make a record of your teeth’s current shade so you’ll be able to see the degree of whitening we achieve. Your teeth will then be polished to remove any plaque from the surfaces of your teeth and ensure that your results are even. Next, your teeth will be isolated with gauze to keep them dry. Retractors may also be used to keep your lips, cheeks, and tongue away from the treatment area. A barrier is also placed along your gums to prevent irritation.

Step 3

Finally, your dentist will coat your teeth with our gentle yet effective peroxide-based whitening gel. The gel is applied and left on your teeth for 30-60 minutes as determined by your dentist. During this time, you can lie back and relax while the gel brightens your teeth, breaking down stains from within your enamel and revealing a brighter, whiter, and more confident smile!
